An American lady is stranded in Tokyo after breaking apart along with her boyfriend. Trying to find course in life, she trains to be a râmen chef below a tyrannical Japanese grasp. Abby, 4 years out of school, an aimless youngster of privilege, involves Tokyo to be along with her boyfriend, who promptly leaves for Osaka. She needs to remain in Tokyo in hopes he’ll come again to her, however she’s depressing: she speaks little Japanese and has a boring job as a law-firm gopher. She stumbles into the neighborhood ramen store operated by the getting older grasp chef Maezumi and his spouse Reiko. His soup cheers Abby, so she decides to apprentice herself to him. He is uninterested, she’s insistent, so he shouts at her and provides her all of the cleansing to do. Weeks go by; she’s persistent. Will he ever truly train her to prepare dinner? And if he does, will she deliver the requisite spirit to the job?
